Online Marketing Tip #10 – Build each page on your website to be a complete and clear message…self-containing. If you think of each page as it’s own information portal you will easily create pages that tell a complete story and increase your conversion rate (which I prefer to call “commitment” rate). As an example, check out our page about WordPress SEO. It illustrates this idea and will help you get ideas for adding converting pages on your website.
Online Marketing Tip #9 -Â Last year Google noticed more and more people using mobile devices like smart phones and tablets to search for products and services, so they decided to favor mobile-friendly or mobile-ready websites for any search taking place on a mobile device. About 50% of searches happen on a mobile device, so if you website isn’t mobile, Â you won’t show up and you’ll miss a lot of activity. There are a couple ways to know if your site is mobile friendly. 1. go to your website on a mobile device; if you have to zoom in to see your site content, you site isn’t mobile-ready. Also, if you search for your company on Google, “mobile-friendly” will appear in the subject-line if you site is mobile friendly. Â If your site is not mobile ready (also called responsive), you can ask your website provider how this can happen. Some companies will set up a mobile version of your website or they will move your site onto a responsive platform or theme. If you need assistance, reach out to us! We’re glad to help!
Online Marketing Tip #8 – Most companies I talk to are pumped when they are able to secure their company name as their domain name, and rightfully so, but purchasing other domain names is also a good idea. People who do not know your company are looking for your products or services, so buying domain names with your products/services keywords in them will help you get search engine activity. Trends on your industry change at a rate you are probably familiar with, so when something in your industry is happening, try to buy a domain name associated with that trend and link it to a relevant page on your website. Check out the blog on this topic.
Online Marketing Tip #7Â – Everything you do for your business online should be connected. If you are posting on Facebook, you should periodically send readers to your website to sign up for an email or purchase a product or service. Work up to paid ads by getting everything in sync. Do you have a call to action? Do you have a strategy in place? Does your online message reflect your print message? Are they working together?
Online Marketing Tip #6 – After you complete a blog post, you can add backlinks to your social media sites to fuel search engine activity. Each blog post has it’s own webpage address. Copy that address and paste into your social posts. Most of them will automatically summarize your blog. On Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ you can then delete the long address. For Twitter, you will want to get a short address (www.tinyurl.com). Ask your business partners to post your blog on their website, or social media. There are websites that allow you to get more action from your blog like www.socialmonkee.com.
Online Marketing Tip #5 - SEO isn’t as tricky as it sounds. One thing you can do to help boost your search engine results is name all your photos on your website. The search engines can’t really see photos so they use the name of the photos to bring them up. If you name your photos relevant name instead of “photo 43533” you will be adding another layer of SEO to your website!

Online Marketing Tip #4 – Blogging shouldn’t be something you dread. The best blog topics are the questions your customers ask you over and over and over! Online Marketing Tip #3 – Local SEO is a bit different that other kinds of SEO. If you have a physical location for your company, you will want to have local listings. There are a couple sites that allow you to update your listings from multiple sites in one place. Always start with Google. Then do a Google search for your business or your services. What companies are on the first page? If any of them are directories, take down the names and see if you can create a profile on those sites. You can also check out mybusinesslistingmanager.com and www.expressupdate.com. They both provide free or paid options. You can also try Yelp and Foursquare. Some directories are industry specific, like Menuism or Tripadvisor or Facebook is very optimized so have a Facebook page for your business with an address can also get you closer to the first page of local searches for your products or services.
Online Marketing Tip #2 – This week we have been discussing how to get more traction on a website. Adding new pages frequently is one way to get new visitors. Think about how your customers shop for your services. Your website should be broken down into these areas so your visitors find what they are looking for quickly. The search engines get confused when all of your products and services are on all of your pages. Separate each product/service on to it’s own webpage so it can stand alone and so the search engines can find it easily.
Online Marketing Tip #1 – Building an app isn’t always feasible, but you can still get a piece of the action…here’s how:
- Make sure your logo is added to your website as an “icon.”
- Create a page you will update and would like your customers to bookmark.
- Tell your customer to go to the page you want them to bookmark on his/her phone.
- Tell him/her to select the option for bookmarking (usually at the bottom of the phone screen, but varies by provider) and select “Add to Home Screen.” (You can go through these steps with this page to add these marketing tips to your home screen:)
